Sterling Silver Cleaning

Clean your Sterling Silver with a soft 100% cotton cloth by gently rubbing each piece in a lengthwise motion until the tarnish is wiped away.  You may also use a Sterling Silver specific polishing cloth if you desire. Sterling Silver is a soft metal so do not rub too harshly.  The more you wear your jewelry the less you should have to clean it as your body oils help to keep the tarnishing down. Don’t feel like you have to remove every bit of tarnish in the hard to reach areas. Leaving some tarnish can add to the character of the piece. In fact, many Sterling Silver pieces are oxidized to give it that look.

Storing Your Sterling Silver

Humidity, moisture, air and sunshine are all agents that will contribute to the tarnishing of your Sterling Silver Jewelry. Therefore it is highly recommended to store your jewelry in a cool, dry place in which it will not be exposed to the open air while you are not wearing it. A great example would be a small plastic zip-lock bag. When stored properly Sterling Silver should be able to be worn regularly with minimal cleaning required.
